Introducing Be Free® Day: A New Daily Contact Lens for Myopia Management

Myopia (nearsightedness) continues to rise worldwide, especially in children. As eye care professionals, we are always looking for treatment options that are effective, comfortable, and easy for patients and families to maintain. A new daily disposable soft contact lens from Euclid Vision Corporation, called Be Free® Day, adds another exciting option to modern myopia management.

What Is Be Free® Day?

Be Free® Day is a silicone hydrogel daily disposable contact lens designed specifically for myopia management. It was developed in collaboration with the Brien Holden Vision Institute, a global leader in myopia research. The lens uses advanced optics intended to help slow myopia progression while maintaining clear, comfortable vision for everyday wear.

How Does It Work?

Be Free® Day features a proprietary multistep optical design that gently changes power from the center of the lens toward the periphery. This design creates peripheral myopic defocus, a visual signal shown in research to help reduce eye growth associated with myopia progression.

Unlike some traditional multifocal or concentric designs, this multistep approach aims to:

  • Maintain sharp central vision

  • Reduce visual disturbances such as glare or halos

  • Provide a smoother visual experience for first-time contact lens wearers

Comfort and Eye Health Benefits

Comfort and eye health are essential, especially for children and teens who may be wearing contact lenses for long hours at school and during screen time.

Be Free® Day lenses are made from a breathable silicone hydrogel material that allows high levels of oxygen to reach the eye. This helps support corneal health and all-day comfort. Additional features include:

  • An advanced surface treatment designed to improve wettability and resist deposits

  • Daily disposable convenience, eliminating the need for cleaning or storage

  • Built-in Class II UV protection to support long-term eye health (UV protection does not replace sunglasses)

Easy for Patients and Families

One of the advantages of Be Free® Day is how easily it fits into everyday routines. These lenses are designed to fit much like standard daily disposable contact lenses, making them approachable for families who may be new to myopia management.

Because they are worn once and discarded, daily lenses can improve compliance and reduce the risk of complications related to lens care. This makes Be Free® Day a practical option for many children and teens, as well as adults interested in myopia control.

Expanding Myopia Management Options

Be Free® Day expands the range of soft contact lens options available for myopia management. It may be used as a standalone treatment or as part of a customized myopia management plan based on a patient’s age, prescription, lifestyle, and risk factors.

If you’re interested in learning whether myopia management contact lenses are right for you or your child, speak with your eye care provider. Early intervention can make a meaningful difference in long-term eye health.
